BEFORE ARRIVAL AT LUCKNOW
Please ask your travel agencies to book
confirmed flights right up to Lucknow, as it is
here that we will receive you and see you off.
Morning flights for both arrival and departure
should always be preferred as the prevailing
weather conditions at the time of the Conference
are not very good (fog prevails). Kindly let us
know the Flight/Train number, date and time of
arrival at Lucknow. Please also send us the
complete travel schedule including flight
numbers and arrival and departures times at
Delhi International Airport and Delhi Domestic
Airport.
Ask
your travel agency to give you the New Delhi
Office phone numbers of the airline you will be
arriving at and departing from Delhi so that the
return journey tickets can be reconfirmed by
phone 3 days before you leave Lucknow. There
will be telephone call or fax charge. The staff
will of course help you.
Nearest International Airport: Indira
Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (it is also
called Terminal 2).
Domestic Airport in Delhi: Palam Airport,
Delhi (it is also called Terminal 1). The
domestic airport is about 10 kilometers from the
international airport. At the Domestic Airport,
there are two terminals 1A and 1B. If one is
booked on Indian Airlines or Alliance Air, then
one needs to go to Terminal 1A. If one is booked
on Jet Airways or Sahara Airlines, one has to go
to Terminal 1B.
Mode of Transport:
Taxis from Pre-Paid Taxi Booth at the
International Airport. There is a coach service
from the International Airport to the Domestic
Airport. A pre-paid taxi (accommodates 5) would
cost approximately USD 6.00 for a one-way
journey. The coach journey would cost less.
Note: Don't forget to exchange some of
the currency you are carrying into Indian Rupees
immediately upon your arrival at the
International Airport. You should make payments
to the taxi operators in cash and in Indian
Rupees. You should request some small
denomination notes of Indian Rupees (10, 20, 50
and 100) in addition to any 500 Rupee notes that
you may get from the exchange counters.
Traveling time: 30 minutes
ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION IN NEW DELHI
In case you need to stay overnight at Delhi,
there are dormitories available at the Domestic
Airport (named Airport Hotel) at approximately
USD 10 per person per night of stay. There are
some good hotels available near the domestic
airport also.
You
can ask your travel agent or agency to book you
into a hotel and also ask the hotel to receive
your delegation upon arrival at the
International Airport, transfer to hotel for the
overnight stay, and subsequent drop at the
Domestic Airport. This can be done against issue
of vouchers by your travel agent.
Please remember that the flight timings are
liable to change, especially during winters due
to bad weather like fog. We therefore request
that delegations, for their return journey, ask
their respective travel agencies to book the
first morning flight from Lucknow to Delhi to
avoid any inconvenience at the last moment. It
is also very important to remember that at least
five (5) hours (1 hour for disembarking, 3 hours
for checking-in, and a 1-hour cushion time) are
needed to change from an international flight to
domestic flight and vice-versa at Delhi. Hence,
you would be well advised to plan your
onward/return journey accordingly.
