Presentation

1.   Title of presentation :       “Conflict and its Resolution”

2.   Purpose of presentation (why is this important and who is the target audience)

Why: Conflicts surround us all the time and indefinitely. People get depressed, frustrated, agitated and sometime feel unable to resolve conflicts. These manifestations affect our everyday life, the way we deal with others and thinking.  This presentation will focus on how to define conflicts and to manage them accordingly.

Target Audience:  The target audience for this presentation is both adults and students who want to see a significant difference in their style of conflict resolution.

3.   Objectives of the Presentation (What are you planning to do)
   To define conflicts.
   To gain understanding of the things that initiate conflicts.
   To develop a strong knowledge of effective conflict resolution strategies.
   To identify and counter aggressive behavior.
   To highlight how to reach win-win situations.

4.    Focus (How is this different from what is presented at other conferences)
Conflict resolution is an oft dealt with topic at different forums but the difference will be in the practical application that this conference will result into. Here we mean to meet people who really want to make a difference in the world!

5.    Practical Applications (How can your results/ strategies be used by others)
Conflict resolution .. and who does not need it? This workshop will demonstrate very practically with discussions and real life examples the very relevance to the participants. Group discussions in the workshop will give an opportunity to the participants to discuss real life issues and their remedies.

6.   Relationship to the Symposium theme

The theme taken I have chosen is, “Civil Society grass-root movements”

The role of civil societies in the development sector is significant yet not understood by some. Moreover it is voluntary work (as in Rotary) and requires the Rotarians to “serve above self”. This concept of serving above self is difficult to have and to explain.

It is only people who have an innate will to serve who can work at the grassroots level, because it is difficult to join the masses in their life styles, and come down to their level. One problem is definitely conflict as they arise and obviously their resolution.

Information (Data or theoretical base) to support what is advocated:

Note: Experiences will be shared from my real Rotary experience of 10 years and almost 27 years of professional experience and that is the core data.
