WORLD RELIGIONS
AND SPIRITUALITY.
The history of Indian sub continent was based on religious
harmony. It is said that every sect & religious group give a
great respect to the other. My father told me that the
Hindus living in our village were in minority. They had a
great respect for our religion Islam and our worship place
mosque. The Hindu shopkeepers used to send free of cost oil
for the lamp of the mosques. The Muslims also give respect
to the Hindus and their worship places. No one felt any
difference and discrimination between the people of
different beliefs. In 1947 the majority of the people was
affiliated with the movement of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan in
the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. The
colonialists promoted religious hatred and excited the
Muslim leaguers to attack the property & lives of Hindus and
Sikhs in the province. It is on the record that the local
people tried its best to provide safety to the lives and
property of Hindus & Sikhs living in the province. There is
a very famous story fabricated by vested interests, the
story of sheikha khor, which means a converted sister. It
was stated that there was a Hindu girl, she converted to
Islam and married a Muslim young man. The government of
North West Frontier Province led by supporters of Khan Abdul
Ghaffar Khan handed over her to her parents. This fabricated
story was used for creating hatred for the supporters of
religious harmony during 1947 in NWFP province. It is very
clear & obvious that the colonialists promoted hatred among
the Hindus & Muslims of the sub continent for dividing the
people so that they can easy rule over them and this policy
of the British colonialists is known through out the world.
The masses who jointly participated in the freedom movement
of the sub continent were made enemies of each other.
We in Pakistan are practicing such kind of other experiences
so many times. The Shiates and Sunnis dispute has very
Arabic background, but the effects and reflections are found
in Pakistan. Shiats and Sunnis attack each other mosque and
kill each other in the mane of GOD & Profit because to
fulfill the political interest of a neighboring country
(Iran). I conclude that all the religions teach humanity,
brother hood, equity & equality but these teachings of
religions are ignored and regions are used for promoting
terrorism, killings & looting the property of innocent
peoples just for the political interests. Krishan Chander
has very rightly mentioned that root causes of religious
hatred in the sub continents in his novelette “ HUM WAHSHAY
