In every religion, society and country a tranquil life is considered as the basic human rights. It is the responsibility of the state to ensure this inalienable right. But it is a matter of thousand pities and lamentations that practice of using the state functionaries for the achievement of personal political aims, violation of merit and patronage of the downright corrupt big guns in the society has transformed the state into a hound instead of a guardian angel of the human right, which has not only miserably failed in ensuring the human rights, but it is a bloodhound set on those very people who feed it. There is no denying the fact that remiss in one’s duty, indifference, truancy, corruption and ignorance shake the very foundations of justice in the society. In such a case the society is rife with ills and wrongs.

Violation of human rights has so badly permeated the structure of the third world countries that it has taken on gruesome proportions. There is hardly anything known as the women’s rights in these societies. Therefore, even today treated as a keep and chattel, the women in these societies are still leading a dog’s life. All such societies existing anywhere in the world, where the abject poverty has forked the justice and people seeking the justice through legal means becomes a nightmare. It is that elusive dream embracing which generations upon generations are claimed and devoured by the white winged death. But they can never ever swim the vast seas of penury and poverty starting form their threshold on the other side of which thick shady tree of justice allures them with the promise of a mirthful life.

The social unevenness and misery always keep them at bay from seeking justice and other fundamental rights. Thus a huge chunk of the population living through the life of unrelenting oppression is fated to die a deathless death. Therefore, it is an era where importance and need for the provision of free legal aid assumes greater importance in securing the basic rights including justice. Otherwise the chapter of the basic human right is wiped clean like the undesired words. The world history is full of violence, death and destruction in the name of religion. So much so that not a single society in the world has been able to successfully counter or diminish the religious violence and oppression. In this regard with the exception of a few regions everywhere there is lot of violence and repression in the name of religion. To make the matter worse, this violence is dubbed as Jihad or Crusades as the need may be. In this way the death and destruction under the banner of religion has been continuing since times immemorial. Every religion of the world believes in security, social order, reconciliation and peace. For the promotion of these decent values, we should have to decide to gather together all the scholars and preachers of different religions to create a peaceful world.

For the sake of social peace and welfare, abiding the law, its effective enforcement, respecting and guaranteeing the human rights can hardly be overemphasized. The common man is supposed to be aware of all such provisions in the law, but unfortunately there are no specific arrangements to help him grasp the prevalent state laws and universal human rights. The lack of perception of the laws and human rights creates many social problems such as:

1. The lost cause of women’s rights.

2. Institutionalised exploitation by the state organs.

3. Providing legal aid to the women and children who suffer the brutality.

4. The delayed and expensive justice.

5. Unnecessary maze of legal implications.

6. Abuse of law.

7. The wrong way of using laws against the minorities.

8. The trampling of the women’s rights and failure in curbing the discrimination are against them.

With the sorrow state of affairs we have to start the projects of promotion of awareness of law and human rights, which aimed at better understanding of the law and human rights by the people enabling them to better defend their rights.
