Upon the recommendation of the
members of jury, Mr Jagdish
Gandhi, President of World
Movement for Global Democracy (WMGD)
announced the result World Peace
Film and Music Awards 2007 today at
City Montessori School (CMS),
Lucknow, India
The nominations for the awards were
received for the World Peace Film
and Music Festival 2007 that was
organized by the World Movement for
Global Democracy (WMGD) during the 4th
Global Symposium: ‘Awakening
Planetary Consciousness’ and 8th
International Conference of Chief
Justices of the World from 5 to 11
December 2007 organized by City
Montessori School, Lucknow, India.
The film ‘One: The Garry Davis
Story’ by One Films, LLC, USA
was awarded the $500 cash prize as
the best film among all the
entries received for the World Peace
Film Award.
ONE: THE GARRY DAVIS STORY
Short documentary, 4 minutes, US.
Garry Davis was a rising Broadway
star until WWII interrupted, but the
horror of dropping bombs on
civilians, the loss of his brother,
and the devastation of Hiroshima
compelled him to make the world his
stage. With Albert Camus, Garry
demanded a democratically elected
world government capable of
outlawing war. 20,000 supporters
rallied with them. The next day the
UN passed the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights. Garry gave up his
US citizenship and declared a
government of, by, and for the
people of Earth. Garry, now 85,
continues his pioneering work.

The $500 World Peace Music Award
was given to the music album ‘TOO
ABSURD’
by ADAMAI Ensemble/ Peace Child,
Israel.
TOO ABSURD
Short animation film, 4 minutes,
Israel. Animated young boy and live
musicians see the world through the
absurd lens of the Middle East.
ADAMAI Ensemble produced 'Too
Absurd' during the recent war with
Lebanon at a time when cooperation
between Jews and Palestinians was
off-the-wall. A young boy, climbing
down from his bunk bed, travels the
world from place to place, seeing
environmental waste, pollution, war
and sadness. and sees what he sees,
until he wakes up and realizes... le
